Hi everyone,

I have just upgraded to a larger tank (and I'm already dreaming about a larger tank lol), and I now have an empty 10 US gallon tank.

I bought my first plec, a juve Bristlenose for my main tank and I really enjoy watching it (I have no idea what sex it is). I was wondering if it would be OK to put a Bristlenose plec in my 10 US gallon tank. It would be overfiltered by a Hydor Ekip 250 so bioload wont be a problem, but is there enough room for an adult Bristlenose?

Andy : )

i have a breeding pair of albinos in a 12 us gal and a few fry that i have left in so i say why not

Thanks for the reply Dane.

This leads me to two further questions.

What do you fish breeders out there do with all of the offspring? I can't imagine that you would keep them all. I can only think that you would give/sell them to a LFS but Bristlenoses are very common.

And can Plecs be sexed as juves?

Andy :)

My plans were to sell the offspring to my LFS but since they're going out of business, I'll have to find another place to sell them to.

they are realy popular everywhere and sell good so people do buy them i grow alot on and sell as pairs

cheers dane

BNs are usually sexable around 2.5 inch, males will start to grow bristles but so do some females, as for the fry as mentioned they are quite popular fish due to there size and sell better in pairs or trios
