I bought these 3 little guys on Saturday and got a real bargain as I asked for 12 Harlequins £5 for 6, and 2 BN's £5 each or 2 for £9. I got 16 harlequins, and when I asked the guy to pick out 2 of the bigger BN's he'd allready caught a small one so he gave me that for free. I got the lot plus a bag of glassworms for £20.

Two of the BN's look the same and logically all three are the same but one looks different. What do you think and what type are they?

third picture looks like mine and they were labelled as 'ancistrus catfish'. The 2nd photo looks similar but the first one - no idea. Have you checked on planet catfish?

you'll get a definite ID there for sure. They're the experts on catfish :)

I'm just wondering if the one in the first picture is an albino ancistrus ... see what the guys at PC think

I'm thinking you may have a calico bristlenose fry there, it doesn't look like a common brown bristlenose to me, would be interesting to see when it matures so be sure to update us all and a great buy with all your other fish, lucky you!

I think you could be right Betta, I saw a pic of one and it looks similar. It was the only one of that colour in the tank, the rest were darker. Strange that it ended up in with them. The one with the white on his dorsal and tail looks different from the others too, wondering if I got three different species.

you could add the photo's to their forum and ask the guys what they think

Ancistrus is merely the genus from which ALL BN plecos come from.

Is it? I didn't know that. Learned something new :D Thanks :D

It's not an albino, doesn't have pink eyes
I agree I have albino BN and they look nothing like that.  The third pic looks like my male BN same white on the tail and dorsal fin.
