Hello this is my first post.

I have seen how easy brine shrimp are to breed. Having taken delivery of a new Trigon 190, which at this stage I am still maturing prior to cycling I was considering the pros and cons of breeding Brine shrimp (sea monkeys) for Cichlid food.

I am planning to keep Malawi Cichlids eventually and if the brine shrimp make good food I would be happy to breed them for this purpose.

Can anyone tell me if they would make a good staple food or should they be seen more as a treat?

Thank you in advance.

The old saying...to much of a good thing et al!!

Brine shrimp when adult do make a great protein food staple for all fish.....in moderation.

Most malawi's should not have a diet consistantly high in animal protein as this can lead to digestive problems and eventually to bloat!!

Give brine shrimp or bloodworms several times a week is a great treat for our fish, but as a staple food is not recommended due to lacking other essential nutrients.
