If I have a species tank what's the best m/f ratio and how many in a 20g with nothing else?
Thanks in advance :)

One male, one female in a compatible pair for a 20.

Thanks freddyk, I'm looking forward to brichardi fry

got a question here:

after they breed and grow up, your gonna have more than a pair- what happens then with the aggresion or do the spawn know who their parents and siblings are and won't fight?

Yes, I intend to sell the fry.

No probs, I thought it was funny.

Anyway, on the advice of the chap at my lfs, I got 2 females and one male as I wasn't sure whether my origional brichardi was male or female. Got the new 3 home and acclimatised them then popped them in and watched closely. New 3 dropped to the bottom of the tank and shot under a rock.

My first brichardi, who I could now see was a male with the longer finnage, searched out the 1 new male and they liplocked while the 2 females hid. Then the new male swam to the left end of the tank with 1 female and the other 2 swam to the right end of the tank. Great I thought, and left them for 20 mins.

Came back to see my first male being mega mean to his female and she looked worse for wear. Took her out and put her in with some dannios overnight and put a divider in between the pair and my male. So it looks like my first male will have to go, waaaaaaa :byebye: and of course the battered wife, who made a full recovery overnight in with the dannios.

The new pair seem ok although the male is a bit strict with his female but not too aggressive and she follows him which I take as a good sign :dunno: Back to the lfs tomorrow, then the divider can come out.
