Hi all,

I am soon going to be getting a tank for my room, I think it will be approx 10 UK gallons.

I currently have two female fighters in my community tank, and I would like to have a go at breeding, I am just doing my research before commit to anything and cause the fish unnecassery *sp?* stress.

Assume I have cycled the tank, it is all set up, plants, ornaments, everything, before I put any fish in there.

How would I go about doing the breeding?

Thanks, D.

There is a lot of things you need to know before breeding bettas. Honestly I know that it is nice having people help you out with questions t may be easier to look at articles and research it for a few days then the things you don't know ask those questions here. I tried breeding a while back and it was a lot of work. It didn;t work out which was a bummer but it took a lot of work. With the conditioning and getting them aquainted and what not its crazy! lol

28ltr is only 6 gallons so would be way too small.....especially if you end up with 100 or more babies

We've got a 28ltr which has been divided and has one Betta in either side. Definately wouldn't be suitable for breeding in though.

You would need a spawning tank and a growout tank of at least 20gals and lot and lots and lots of jars for when they are old enough to separate.

Thanks,

I have come to the conclusion, I cant do that in my room!

What could I keep in there then?

Thanks, D.

Depends what you want really. That size would be great for one male Betta or divided for 2.

28 liters is ok for the spawning tank. You will need a 150 liter grow out tank for the fry to live in as they grow.
