as the title say the male will not start building his nest, i have four female in a trap so he can see them all. the females have the little white egg spot thing near the vent. i am just stuggleing getting him to start building his nest. any help would be good
:good: thanks chirs.

These four females arnt in the same breeding trap together, right?

I think just one would do it for him if he were interested. Four probably wont solve much, some males just dont build bubble nests all that often.

I had bettas who lived in clear view of one another for years without so much as a bubble, while others would cover the waters surface with foam. Really depends on the fish.

one of my fish has the same problem, he just doesnt seem to be bothered about the females

Well, I feel obliged to warn that Betta breeding is a complex process. If you don't have much Betta experience, a mentor and read lots and lots of spawning threads, it may take a tradgic turn. Even with experience and knowledge it can do that.

Some breeders will steal bubble nests from a nest builder for the couple.

Sorry but I have to say you really dont sound prepared. Read the FAQ topics on breeding and read everything you can find on the internet. Its not a task to take on lightly.

Do you have other males that are building betta nest? Because you could try transplanting one of their nests so that he has one to get him motivated
