Hi i have 8 guppys 4 male, 4 female. Am i able to breed them, if so what do i do, cheers.

yeah you can breed them but you should hav 1 male to 2 female ratio really so the females don't get stressed by the males always wanting to mate. do you have room to breed because if you want to keep all the fry you'll end up with alot.

:good:

Yeah i have the room, but whats best now, should i try and separate them to a ratio, don't want to give my others away i mean?

well i would but then again if you keep males on their own which you will end up doing if you split them to a ratio you have to keep more then 5 males i think so they don't bully each other.

are you really determined to breed guppies?

:good:

No not really but would like it, if it did happen, how do you know if one is pregant though, since one of my females looks quite fat ish?

There is nothing you have to *do* to get guppies to breed; they know how to set about it  If your female is fat, then she is probably pregnant. Is her gravid spot (the dark bit in the anal region) enlarged? If you keep males and females together, there will almost certainly be fry. If you buy females only from a shop, there will most likely be fry.

I can't really tell but she is bigger than the rest of the females. What can i do just incase she is?

leave her where she is if shes not in a community tank as moving her will stress her and she may not produce any fry or might give birth prematurly.

If you are anxious for the fry to survive, you can help by planting the tank- and maybe add some floating plants for them to hide in. Java moss is good, but you can just float any old plant. You can also scoop up any fry as soon as they are born and put them in a breeder net or trap within the main tank; they won't be stressed out by being moved unlike the mother.

Plants will also help the mother to give birth unstressed.
