Breeding Tank

CPDs seem to have paired off as well and it appears I have more males than females since there colors have come out. Female has been chasing the most colorful male(imo) so hopefully next water change will develop some action. :D

After some thought. I performed a water change and increased the temp by 2*. Lights will be going off in a couple of hours and hopefully tomorrow when the lights come on I might see a change to the dance. Some of the males are squaring off around the female and the female starts to chase the winner around.

After trimming the hygro from my display tank I thought a minor rescape was called for:

Moved the driftwood over a bit. Planted some hygro in top left. Moved lava rock to the right. Planted a clump of dwarf hairgrass that wasn't doing so well in main tank. Moved the cryptocoryne to the middle next to the driftwood.

sorry for poor quality. Input appreciated! :D

Hmm... Its been awhile since i've been on this side of the forums! I'm excited to announve that there will be an update soon on this tank.

As it stands, the tank in its current state looks totally different than above. A re-scape however is planned and i'm totally excited. I will be going for a natural looking scape. I have broken down my 20g long biotope and all plants will be tossed. They were not doing well due to co2 issues I was having for several months. All livestock has been transferred to this tank.

Current livestock:
12 Cpd(yes, some will consider this overstocked, however, I plan on this being fully planted will weekly water changes due to ei dosing and co2 injection)
Unknown number of RCS - once they start breeding, they just dont stop. (will be taking some to.lfs in exchange for new batch to keep genetics safe) Dont want deformed rcs lol.

Plants:
Anubias (unsure of specific species, poss. barteri. One of the ones that stay small.)
Java fern

Hardscape:
2 pieces of driftwood which plants are attached to.

I will be asking for other suggestions once I get pics up. I know you all will think the driftwood may be overwelming for such a small tank. Just keep in mind, I am going for a natural look, and personally I think they will be suitable. I will be hooking up my pressurized co2 system that was on my 20g long. EI dosing will commence once all set up. Will need to purchase a new drop checker and diffuser. I will also be upgrading the lighting system. Was considering LEDs but I have not been convinced yet. Will probably go with 2xt5 or cfl. Considering swapping out the sponge filter for aesthetic and clwaning purposes but the shrimp LOVE grazing on the detritus and leftovers that collect on the sponges. I added a koralia nano, the smallest of the series, for additional flow but I think it still might be too much. This issue could also be dealt with by a new filter. I want to be sure the flow is right for the pressurized system however. Pics will be posted tomorrow once I give it a good cleaning and judgement and plant selections shall commence!

Edit: can a mod please move this to the planted journal section? It would be much appreciated! Thanks.
