This might be a daft question as most of mine are but do silver sharks breed in captivity? I've read here and there that they don't and I assume those that wrote that know more than me so I believe it. Now recently we have come down to our 2 sharks entwined around each other from about half way down and they don't seem to be in much of a hurry to stop either. If they're not breeding any idea what they are up to?

Cheers

That's just them playing/sorting out who is boss in the "shoal" (I use quotes as you really need more than 2, more like 5 and above).

My guess is that these fish aren't sexually mature until at least 8" or so, most people in the hobby can't give these fish the sort of care they need and deserve once that size. I have never heard of anyone being able to breed them in the home.

yeah andywg is right the have not been bred in captivity (except commercially with the aid of hormones).

I'd read that they hadn't bred and never really thought that my 2 were actually but it was strange behaviour which I hadn't seen them do before so asked. So thanks guys for the replies and for not patronising the new boy.

Cheers
