Hi all, I have always loved rams, and have decided to turn my neglected 30 gal community into an amazonian (i think) tank with rams  :D What are the requirements for this? Do I need to get that amazonian dirt substrate? WHat type of plants should I get? I think I would like to breed them, and if so, they can be bred in the main tank, right? Do they need damper fish? What can safely go in the tank with them?

Lotsa questions. I will research as you guys answer. Hopefully your information will be clearer and more for me, as opposed to bland internet data. Thanks!

Hehe, I'm pretty sure rams are my dads favorite fish. He keeps telling me to take the tank down and just have the 50 gal, but maybe rams will hit his soft spot :D

If you want to breed them, NO other fish in the tank except the parents or you won't be seeing any babies or eggs at all. Rams are very good parents. And my experience, I've put my rams in breeding tanks but out of 4 egg batches. Non survived so far.
