I was reading on how to breed fathead minnows. It said to have 8 hours of darkness with a good diet. I have a couple questions. What does it mean by darkness? (I'm not sure if it means in the day, like putting a sheet over it, or what.) And my last question is: What kind of foods do I feed them, and how often? Will freeze dried brine shrimp, or any other freeze dried food work?

(I just like to be sure that what I'm doing will work. Please include any important details of breeding fathead minnows.)

Use frozen rather than freeze dried food, and turning off the aquarium/room lights one day and leaving them be should do it.

I'm fine with using frozen, but I would prefer using freeze dried. Would freeze dried work, or do they like frozen better? Also, how often do I feed them?

Stand a much better chance with frozen, its cheap and better for them too.

For me it would be 'normal' feed (mixed flake/small pellets/granules) in the morning and frozen bloodworm in the evening.
