can anyone help on how to breed daphnia i tried with one of the advertised kits total failure anyone help please.cheers peter

They pretty much breed themselves, in less then a week after being born they will start the process.  Everything I've read mentioned that just keeping them fed is all you need to do.  Depending on the size of the container they are in once your population hits so much you need to feed or cull some or else it will kill the entire cultivation.

I've been looking for Daphnia for awhile now, where did you find some?

they came from a company on ebay but i am not impressed

Start with a £1 pouch of daphnia from your LFS. Feed with yeast every few days. I started last summer but I still have not got results as I had a population crash, but it is still going - is just taking a lot longer than I expected.

do you use tap water or rain water and the yeast is that baking yeast

I have treated tap water (dehlorinated) in a 20 litre fish tank which is completely empty (no substrate or anything), I am using brewers yeast dried, which in the UK, you can pick up in Wilco's.
