I've never had cons, but I hear they are VERY easy to breed, and the only hard thing is getting rid of all the fry when they get big

Yes. I have had no expoerance but did ALOT of research and decided It wasn't my thing. If you get a breeding pair (maybe ask you lfs to order a pair) and yes they will breed very easily.

Even if you don't get a pair they will. Just get a male, get a female, plop 'em in a tank, and voila! babies. And many babies may I add. Sort of the egg-laying equivalent of guppies, except they produce more young at a time. Soon you will be overrun. :p

Don't breed convicts unless you have a way to get rid of them. I ended up with 300 plus. Nobody wants them, the stores won't take them, nobody!!! The parents beat my oscar up so much he will not even eat them in a seperate tank. The 12 inch oscar will not go near a 1/2 inch convict now. I asked everyone I met if they had a fish tank? maybe you'd like to start one ?

Last resort, my son has a Turtle, THANK GOD! Still have 8 or so. If I find baby fry I suck them up with the gravel cleaner and feed them to fish in other tank as quick as posible. They breed like roaches.
