when you read breeding articles in pfk etc, they talk about when they are seperating the fish to breed in another tank and it will say:
set up tank fill with water add heater and no filtration just open ended airline
so are they just using plain dechlorinated water??
and they dont add filter until they have finished breeding so this can take a few days
will they breed though in this water?
also why is it better to have open eneded air line and not airstone?

Probably, sometimes and because they are probably worried about "contaminating" the water somehow.

This is the sort of set-up used commercially (although filtration is usually included). It really is not a good way to breed most fish and, at least in my experience, it is considerably more difficult to breed fish in these conditions.

There is no such thing as a universal formula for breeding all fish. Different fish will have different requirements for triggering successful spawning.
