I am doing a nd in fish management (ornamental) in sparsholt college,
one of our assignments is to breed tropical fish,
i was wondering what the most popular fish to breed where? excluding live-bearers.
As we have to breed something a retailer will buy off of us, but something a bit more challenging than guppies and platys.
:good: :fun:

angel or rams seem to be easy , so ive seen from other people

Markets depend uppon location. Round my way, if you can breed Bristle Noses Plecs, you are in the money. They are easy and no importer or wholsaler currently offering them to us, so local breeders are the only source, and there are few of these. My place of work buy them in at a pound a time due to such low supply ATM. They are fairly easy breeders also ;)

Angels are easy, but LFS's in my area don't wanna know for the moment, as with Rams, where customer interest is minimal. You'd be best off speaking to your LFS's about what fish they'd be interested in buying from a local breeder, and then post the list up here, or discuss it with your tutor(s) to see which are easiest from the list.

There are several easy to breed fish including many kinds of corydoras, convicts, the goodeid group of livebearers. I would look to others in the UK as your best bet because most places what is easy to breed is also not worth much in the marketplace. They are likely to know your local market for fish better than most of us.
