Brand New 174 Gallon Fishtank! (pics Included)

are you sure that's 174gallons? It sure does like small for it.

Have you seen how high it is, its almost taller then me!!! :D

Would look good with some angels and some largish shoaling fish in there :D

Good Luck with the tank mate :good:

It still doesn't look that big to me either. Compare the tank to the tile on the floor and the airline tubing. Somthing is off.

1 - you dont know how big the tile is
2 - the airline tubing might be quite a way back from the tank. photos can be deceiving :good:

I am glad a couple of other members questioned the size of this tank as I was going to as soon as it came on.

True, I do not know the size of the tiles the tank is set on so it may be an illusion.

I'm thinking 174 LITRES maybe, either way it does look off as normally a 174 gallon (UK?) would look spectacular

I think they are in the USA as the said $400 US. That would be a HUGE tank ! 174 us gallons ? With the measurements given, those plants would have to be like 60" tall. The floor tile would be 36"x36", but are probably 12" or 16". I think the measuremants are wrong.

Why not just stop bitching about how big the tank appears to be.

The guy said 174 gallons, the measurements support this, just leave it at that. And even if it's not...Does it really give you that much joy that you must ALWAYS be right about every single thing you say, do, and question?

Im not bitching. I am really curious because it is an unusual tank.

Where did that come from ?
I'm a mellow laid back lady. Excuse me.

The dimensions does add up to 174 gallons. Although the dimensions of 100 cm (40") x 55 cm (22") is closer to the surface area of a 55 or 75 gallon because of its incredible height.

Anyway for a goldfish tank, you need other coldwater or tolerant to coldwater fish... like some species of barbs, some tetras (buenos aires or pristellas), minnows/danios, and weather dojo loaches. With a tank your size, I'd go for a large group of pristella tetras and a big group of both zebra and leopard danios. I would think that would help fill out the upper portion of your tank.

If you can afford it, you might want to research the denison barbs. They are very colorful and I've read that they can be kept in cooler waters; I just haven't seen that for myself though.

Bitching must mean something different in the States as YOU are the first member in this thread to *****, the rest were just discussing a point in question.

Meh, seemed to me like everyone's bickering over the size of the tank...

The op stated the size, gave dimensions, and yet...still people are questioning it? I'm not trying to start anything, but it is ridiculous that so many people cannot accept the actual size of the tank.

Whether you say "meh" or not, this reply was very insulting......You called me a ***** !

I come here for help and support in order to better my fishkeeping skills. I ask way more than I reply as I am no expert.

This type of insult should not be allowed on here. I can find a friendlier place to go.

why not solve the prob and fix everyones curiosity with a pic of the tank with a measuring tape beside it or even a person to compare size to :D .

I did not call anyone, anything. It's not an insult to anyone. I'm sorry if you took it that way, as that is not what I intended it.

The post was not directed at just one person in particular.
