In answer to this topic http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showto...=0&#entry502052 i have started this poll to see what the general feeling on this is.
Personally i think it would be a great idea but then i am biased as i keep brackish tanks/fish. Please vote and feel welcome to post any questions/suggestions below.

I agree, it's a fish forum  why shouldn't we cater for members with a brackish tank?

12/12 voted yes... should be clear what the members want...

I almost voted for Don't care, as I personally don't keep em, but I do think that all members needs should be catered for, so went for yes

absolutely, there are probably people who dont even know it exists because it's pretty much ignored here...it would be cool if we had a specific place to find answers to brackish questions rather than jsut having them scattred all over other sections.

I think there should be, we have a forum for everything else and I don't think it's a good idea to lump everything together in 'Oddballs' because brackish aren't necessarily this (mollies can be considered brackish) and also because it might give the wrong impression of their requirements (which are very different from f/w).

Basically, yes.

There are already a lot of forums here and brackish wouldn't get a lot of traffic. Oddballs is currently covering the brackish fish just fine. Don't add forums unless there is a legitimate need.

My (rather minority) $0.02...

I think it is needed yeh.

However I also have the highly controversial opinion that we have too many forums...

I think "DIY" could be a sub-forum of "Hardware"

"Winners Archive" could be a subforum of "members pics"

Having a brackish forum is an interesting idea that I have never thought of before since I know little about those fish. Are there many fish that fall into this category?

Aside from mollies, that are now covered in livebearers, and a few that are now covered by Oddballs, are there many other kinds that our members keep? I would need more information to be able to make a decision on this.

Let's not discuss how the forum is arranged on this thread since that is a small matter and can be discussed elsewhere. Talking about it here will only detract from the more important issue of whether we need another forum. :D

Monos
scats
gobies (many species)
puffers (many species)
perch's (many species)
moray eels
anableps
some cichlids
flat fishes
blennies
shark catfishes

and many many more, enough of a list?
