Quite personally I find my Juwel Vision 180 (bow front) far more attractive than the normal 180 - but that's just me B)

I love the bow fronts too! (although I haven't got one yet!! )

My next project is gonna be a big corner stand tank, planted, with various schooling groups and 10 - 15 corys

My girlfriend (who lives with me) has a 26 Gal bowfront (sitting 3 feet from me). I really appreciate the 'look' they have and it also allows you to see the fish from a better angle (if you have one you know what I mean). Aesthetically I think they are a huge improvement.

As far as sizing... they are a little thicker in the middle... and a little more narrow on the ends... it 'averages' out to the same, maybe even a little better for say, Angel fish who hang out in the center of the aquarium.

I would be hesitant to get a 'huge' (75G+) bowfront aquarium though. Since it is a new'er concept, I'd rather see some that are 10+ yrs old first. But that's just me not wanting to take the risk, not that I think they are unstable.

I don't much live bowfronts because I feel they distort the view inside according to what angle you view them from. Just give me some flat glass to view my fish through. That's my story....and I'm stickin to it.

Yeah, im with Iron man here, for me, when i view one, the diplay tank at the lfs, the view is distorted, maybe its just me. But i find that very annoying!

I love em. The lighting is a little hard tho, especially on the eclipse ones. The light is in the front and it doesn't reach the back cause the filter. But that's another story.
I do like the bowfronts tho!!

Hi..I have a 46 G Bowfront....LOVE IT!! Looks great from the side too. The hood DOES limit you if you want to add a decorative hood, eg, All-Glass doesn't make one for the bowfront because they said it was too expensive to construct and sell. But....hey..if you tank is for display and not becoming a total piece of furniture.....'it has nice lines'. SH

Although I agree they are attractive, the Vision 180 holds approx 15% less fish than the Rio 180 with the same weight factor......unfortunately!!!

Same here

However, they are more expensive than flat front tanks so I think if I had to do it again, I'd go for the 55g and get the extra 9 gallons

Thanks for your thoughts. The reason for asking is that I am about to start designing a built in unit for my next tank and have recently considered a bowfront. Obviously I need to make this decision before going any further!!
