I had a small tub growing on my window sill back in the summer. Somehow it all died out for unknown reason :( Anyway, I have started another tub and been growing slowly.

No heating of course. No direct sunlight, just light on a window sill. Some ivy-leaf duckweed. Green algae grows in the tub and I sprinkle tiny bit of spirulina powder maybe twice a week. Also, I use dried yeast (I just dissolve a few granules in small amount of warm water and pour into the culture). I think it's been too cold for them to breed well but they are still alive after a month or two now.

lol a just love this lad,his fish died, yesterday becouse they were to cold and today he has heat to grow daphnia,,keep up the good work, kenny

in all due respect to XmurderX his electricity went out yesterday due to the snow, so the tank heater was off for 2 hours, so the temperature fluctuation killed the fish

How can a temperature difference so big that it can kill (only one) fish happen in any house is beyond me, I guess there is another underlying problem which caused the death.
