Bottom Half Of Tank

If you could get some floating weed in there it would help. Or even try putting a peice of flat polystyrene in there to provide cover from the light (along with some taller plants).

It does look to me like a confidence issue due to lack of cover. It might take a couple of weeks for the fish to become more confident.

I would invest in a decent liquid test kit if you dont have one already, it's always a good thing to know what the stats are even if your tank 'looks' fine. You never know when you might need them. :good:

I would but I still dont understand why it would change when the light goes off! The bulb is one of those that looks pinkish and brings out the colours of the fish, could this be the problem?

I didnt mean as in to buy a test kit to cure your problem, just as a good staple to have as part of your aquatic hobby.

Sounds very similar to what I'm seeing in the 620T...

My Yellowtails are not a fan of "bright" light, not even a single (9W) in combination with the lounge window sunlight, so they were hiding on the tank floor behind the Java Fern! However, having moved across enough of the Red Root Floater" plants oer the weekend that I bought from "Voo" a couple of months back, they are now showing their beautiful selves mid-water.

What's more, the floating plant (like most floating species) aggressively removes ammonia and nitrite from the water, which is great while the group of Yellowtails and Pearl Danios are in this tank for the next week or two (putting rather a lot of pressure on the bacterial colony in the U4 filter).
