Hi guys. Ive just pasted on my clown loaches today so now i need a new bottom feeder to pick up after my oscar, especially since he wont eat off the floor. Not even live foods lol.
I like pim pictus cats but would they become a meal or just get harrassed or viser verser? Any other ideas? What do you guys use? Or am i stuck with my gravel vac? Lol

Well you should really be cleaning the bottom yourself.
What tank size do you have?
A school of pictus could work but they have to be big enough for the oscar not to eat, how big is the oscar?

im pretty sure if your oscar is hungry, he will eat the food where ever it is, not a case of over feeding and him beign spoilt is it? :)

I do 2 50% water changes a week in a 4x2x2. My O is only 3.5".
I had read somewere that pims can make a nice snack but wanted more opinions. I would just rather the food get eaten by another inhabitant than wasted entirely. I shall try not foodin tonight or tomorrow morning then see if he will take a prawn and algea wafer of the floor lol.

i personally would avoid pictus with oscars. they have extremely sharp pectoral fins and if in an oscars mouth will do some real bad damage.

i have kept humbug cats and jaguar cats in with an oscar that was fully grown with no issues. both are very laid back and wont interfear with the O and will clean up everything in their own time. the humbugs are very common so shouldnt be an issue to find but the jaguar catfish is a little more rare and will cost a few quid too......

whatever you decide just give them a place to hide and escape any unwanted non friendly mouths :good:

I keep at present with mine a pleco and a featherfin catfish<syno's>, but as said you will need to do the bulk of the cleaning yourself with a syphon, if you think of going down the plec route remember there very messy themselves and there poo is something not to be recconded with,,hehe

Are humbugs the same as raphaels? Off to research now anyways. Jaguar could be something to look at. Thanks.
