My 30 Gallon tank has 10 Tiger barbs swimming at the mid layer, but the bottom still feels like its lacking something.

Whats a good peaceful bottom dwelling fish that's not a pleco. I think they're ugly and 3/4 of the time they're just stuck on the glass anyways...

I have 1 bamboo shrimp that walks around the bottom sometimes, but he's usually hanging onto his driftwood filtering and eating.

Porthole flagtail catfish are pretty neat and get about three to four inches. Their flagtail pattern is pretty unusual and look pretty neat in a communtiy tank.

Corydoras catfish, there is lots of different types, (bronze, sterbais, albino) stay small at around 2" and are great to watch, keep them in groups of 6+ to get best behaviuor out of them. Easy to keep and hardy.

Yeah I would go with a group of cory's as well (great little fish). Alternatives would be khulie loaches but they tend to not be very visable most of the time.

well imo and many other peoples opinion they have far more character than tiger barbs and many other community fish.

having been in the hobby for long but i recently bought some cory julli's and i think they are my best addition so far !! I've got 6 and they only grow to 2" so i would highly recommend them !!

Can I ask how you feed bottom dwellers. I only have flake food and the other fish have eaten this before it reaches the bottom of the tank. I have a red tailed shark. Should I get pellets or something so they fall directly to the bottom?

its always worth having some sinking pellets, like shrimp or bloodworm. i drop them in after i put flake in, coz the other fish are busy squabbling over it to notice the pellets.
