Boris Is Doing Housework?!

Well he's acting weirdly lately. He's been busy clearing an area at the front of the tank, so you can see the bare glass at the bottom now. Then keeps sort of shivering over it. Also keeps changing colour, the bands going lighter grey and a white chin when he swims upwards.

Seems like he's getting randy, and could even be female. Anyone with any experience of O's got any ideas? He's between 5.5-6" now, so not at sexual maturity yet I would have thought.

I have a bare bottomed section in Rusty's tank, he is forever "admiring" himself he doesnt do any shimmering yet, although he is still a baby. Will let you know if Tinker and Tailor start any think like it (after I have told Minxyfishy )

Sounds normal he is happy and just setting up the tank as he likes.

We think he's doing it for attention as it's right at the front of the tank, in the corner so can easily be seen from all angles He's a proper show off!

digging is a pretty normal thing for large cichlids. if mine didnt do it I would be worried that there was something wrong with them.

O's are nutorious pit diggers, as juan said, all cichlids esp the larger ones digg pits,my friend has my old vieja and she pushes all the gravel up the front of the tank,much so that my friend removed loads as every time she shoved it all at the front,you could hardly see her...lol so do not panic...
