My current fish stock:

4 White Cloud Mountain Minnows
5 Pentazona Barbs
10 Neon Tetras
1 Pearl Gourami
7 Amano Shrimp

First of all would a single or pair of Bolivian Rams get along with these species, and second if I went for a pair do they need to be a 'mated' pair or will any male/female go together ok?

My local store owner told me he can order Bolivians on request but he doesnt actually stock them, so I dont want to go and order 2 if they are not gonna end up getting along.

Thats the thing with cichlids, you never know!

Bolivians are pretty calm compared to others but they can still be pretty grumpy if they choose to be. Chances are it will be fine. At my lfs, i selected a male and female german blue ram and they moved them to a seperate tank for me, i left them for 3 weeks so they could get used to each other. I popped in each weekend to observe their behavior together and they were fine.

I've got a pair and theyre even more peaceful than my gold and blue rams.. One gold ram bullies them a bit actually.. Theyll b fine with all the fish u hav but theyll probly hav a crack at eating ur shrimp!

My rams have never bothered my amano shrimp, or any of my fish for that matter.

They would probably be fine with all of those fish, except the gourami would probably eat the fry, if they pair does spawn.
