Hello,

My Bolivian ram aint looking to good. He has gone really dark black sides and stripes totaly black. He is laying on the sand (not on his side) and only the left fin is moving, the right one is tucked by his side. When i pass my hand past the glass he does nothing, normaly he will come to the front and follow me or swim away, but its like he is blind :( Also my sissortails have packed up really tight... they normally schoal together but rather spread out but they are really bunched up. What could it be :(

My water stats are bang on and if it was the water the Blue rams would be feeling it worst and they seem to be having a great time. The blue rams are about 1/2 inch and the bolivians are about 3 inch. I really cant think what to do :( if hes going to die, what can i do to make him feel comfortable? Should i do a water change or 25~50%? or would that make it worse?

Thanks in advance

Kev :(

Cant understand if water quality is good as black patches can mean ammonia burns that are healing as they were in poor water quality, going dark in colour can indicate a bacterial infection, tight clamped fins are a sign of strress, so I would do a water cahnge, any abnormal behaviour going on.

hmm. Its only 1 bolivian ram thats acting weird and the sissortails bunching up too. The black/dark patches are like his colours i thought. In the morning when i turn the lights on he is dark for about 10mins then becomes lighterbut he aint normally like this during the day/evening time :( if my water was poor it would show on my Blue rams so my tests must be right?

Ammonia: 0
Nitrites: 0
Nitrates: 15

ill do a water change and see how that goes :( the female is swimming near him and giving him a gentle nudge :( feel really bad
