help needed my Bolivian ram dropped 100+ eggs at 1700 hrs today , she had been preparing a site for 3 days and then it came, the male is currently fertilizing them.
so what do i do?
i will try to get some better pictures but she has chosen a well protected place with lots of overhanging plants next to a java moss pit she made.

thanks, i think she will guard them until they hatch and then move them via her mouth to the pit (to the right of the slate ) at the moment the male is seeing off the corys that come anywhere near, the cardinals tried but they were chased off as well and are now in a shoal at the other end of the tank !

maybe i let nature take its course...once they hatch i think the fry will get lost in the sand and java moss...she actually moved all the moss ripping it from clumps from a stone to the sand pit...how cool is that. The male is very protective of her and the eggs.

Update - things seem to be going well, the female will only leave the eggs for about 15 seconds for a quick feed , with the male taking guard, then she's back tending to the eggs, she uses her extended breeding tube gently rolling the eggs until all 125 have been taken care of , waits about 20 seconds and starts all over again. I have also noticed that she randomly cleans them , not taking them into her mouth but as if checking on them for any disease or contamination . Meanwhile the male is very quick to see off any corys off who come within about 6 inches of the nest area. Now if I am right the female will stay with the eggs for 3-5 days until she collects the fry in her mouth and moves them to the prepared pit a few inches away. I hope they survive.

Nope unfortunately after four days that the female cared for he eggs they disappeared , she seemed pretty good with them , but guess they got snuffled. strange thing tho now the male has rejected her and paired with the other female, tonight saw breeding activity lots of shaking going down , stone cleaning and they won't be apart. The rejected female is happy at the other end of the tank, likes to play with the corys! . Thought once rams pair it is usually for life? Well not this male he has best of both females.

Maybe your cories hoovered them up.
