Bolivian Ram, Damaged Fins

i finally found a bolivian ram nearby at my local pet store. it was the only one they had left, and to be honest he doesn't too great at all, but i was just excited to find the species. i grabbed him and he's in my 20 gallon community now. hes very active and alert which is good, but i noticed his tail fin is pretty nipped up. and my problem is, i can't use melafix because i have a dwarf gourami in the tank, and i can't use salt because i have corys in the tank, and i also have shrimp in the tank so many other medicines won't work.


any ideas?

just keep the water clean, feed brimeshrimp in garlic or generally soak the fish food in garlic juice. that builds up the immune system and gives him that extra boost, you'll see a diff in a month's time

Agree, water changes are the way to go. I just feed a variety of foods. I bought a female congo tetra a while back with half her tail gone and it was back in 2 weeks. My guess is you will see changes quickly with a good WC routine.
