In regards to bog wood, the only store around me that sells it isn't that local, I was wondering if using wood from a river or riveen would be okay? or would these pieces of wood carry bacterium that could crash my tank?

have you tried e-bay, i got a nice peice from there a while back..

As long as you make sure the wood is really dead, give it a good scrub and boil it in water, it should be ok.

I have also used a very light bleach solution one time that I brought imported wood myself. I used about 1 cap of bleach on a bucket, let it soak for a few hours, and then rinsed it in clean water. After the rinse I let it soak again in a bucket with clean water for one night. Worked fine; I still have these pieces in my tank, and have not had any problems with the fish whatsoever.
