Bogwood Floats?

i bought 2 peices of bogwood on friday from the lfs broght them home and started soaking them in a baby bath, i realied that for some reason they both floated!! i thought that i should just let them soak and see if waterlogging them would help them sink, has a bit but still kind of floaty!!
is this right? and is it ok to use rocks or weights to help them sink?

With my bog wood i left it to soak for quite a while, About a week, How long have you left them to soak?
Also during the soaking process chemicals can leak out of them, so you should change the water often.

been soaking for the last 3 days, changed water everyday to get tannins out. Just never had this problem with bogwood before! all previous peices have just sunk without difficulty.

Yeah some types will float until they absorb enough water to hold them down. Redmoor wood does this and my piece took about 6 weeks to stay down. Weigh it down with a rock if you can just make sure it won't fall off.

aahhh, yes. i have redmoor or simmilar wood. glad others have had experiences too, i was worried about its use in the tank. it has loads of cracks and holes in, so will wedge a bit of cleaned up stone in there to help it sink down. not worried about the tannins to much as i will just put some activated carbon in the filter!!
