Bogwood/driftwood/petrified?

I you plant to get wood for pleco to rasp on, Make sure its not mopani wood, Bog wood is best as mopani is to hard for it to rasp

this is interesting, do you have any links to this problem? i have come across people saying mopani is a bit hard, though only in places, for plecos, but i have not found any comments that is is truly bad for them. pleases do not think i am saying this is not so. its just the first time i have come across this, and for the benefit of my fish, would like to look into it.

I can't provide a Link as I don't remember where I read it, but I know they cant rasp properly and bogwood is the best way to go,

but note that they lower Ph in the water,
regarding pleco, and their size you can get a bristlenose catfish they are peacefull from what I know of and don't grow to big,

very nice to look at, (Mine loves cucumber)

humm perhaps it should not be treated as fact then? more a personal preference! even the pleco forums have no comment on it.

I read on this forum,
But it sound logical considering Mopani is Very hard and my fish wouldn't touch it,

I went to my favourite Pike fishery in The Lake District on Monday and whilst I was wading about (spinning) trod on a piece of wood.
I threw it out and later examined it and thought it would do in me tank. It is very old and half rotted away and someone in the past had tried to burn it so had some black bits on it.
When I got it home i scrubbed it for ages then immersed it in boiling water and then put it in the tank!!
Looks great and was about six quid cheaper than the bog wood from the fish shop.
All the fish have had a nosey and t'water is still Gin clear so I hope it stays that way.
