+1 quick scrub under the tap to get dust and spiders off, and then in it goes.

cheer just need to make my mind up on the substrate im going to use as i dont like my argos play sand
i want something a little more gritty and some thing to help the plant grow so i may be going half and half plant sub at rear gritty sand at front
what you think

Unipac Senegal. Although they do work, planted substrate is not necessary.
thanks i thing ive seen Unipac Senegal at LFS, the think is i had nothing but jbl plant sub in my 90lts and the plant did so well better than in my rio now
i no it dont last for ever but surely it give them a real good start

Sharp sand, if you are just going for sand.

I have never had any and have always been able to grow plants, but I did dose ferts. Get some and mix it up or cap it and you have the best of both worlds like you say.

Like you said mate.

Planted substrate covered (capped) with the substrate of your choice.
