i have a male rosy barb that had what appeared to be body fungus (columnaris) in the area right in front of his dorsal fin and on his right pectoral fin.

i treated 5 days with maracyn one, and after a 3 day break, treated 5 days with maracyn one and two. the fungus has cleared up a lot, but some of it still remains.

what should be my next step to try and heal the fish completely?

Hm, if the the treatment has cured some of the problem but not all of it yet, i would advise just continuing the treatment for a little longer  .

the directions on the maracyn one and two boxes say to repeat the 5-day treatment only once if needed and i already treated twice with maracyn one. do you know why they give this direction?

but can i just wait like 3 days and do another 5-day maracyn one and two treatment?

Any time I treat with any antibiotics I treat for 10 days minimum, with a 50% water change & remed daily.

so should i continue the treatment for a total of 15 days? i've already done it for 10 days, although there was a 3-day break between the first and second 5-day treatments.

i do 2 50% water changes, 24 hours apart, after each 5-day treatment.

How often are you medicating, how much, and in what size tank?

for each 5-day treatment, i put in 1 powder packet of maracyn one and 1 powder packet of maracyn two daily. for maracyn two, i put in two packets on the first day, as per instructions. the tank is 10 gallons.
