Years ago I converted a community tank into a cichlid tank and I left about half a dozen zebra loaches in it. I thought they would soon be eaten but oh well, I couldn't catch the little suckers to get them out! About a year later when the heavily overstocked 55 Gal tank was broken down, I still had a few of them. Loaches can out swim just about anything and they are primarily nocturnal so they come out at night and eat the left over foods. Actually an asset to a cichlid tank.
But yes, anything that happens to catch it will eat it.
