Colours of bulbs are measured by kelvin ratings. heres a good thread to read through. http/www.fishforums.net/index.php?/topic/395587-lighting-for-basic-ow-tech-plants/ the discussion starts about half the way down. I do have some research articles on it it you really feel the need.
