ive put a rainbow shark in the tank today but my gourmai keeps learking behind him and chasing him around and genrally just p*s*ing the new guy off

is this normal behavior i though the shark would have been doing the chasing if anything?

i know i will have to rehouse the RBshark a few months down the line in a bigger tank but for now i would like the gourmai to leave him alone

Hi DJ ArKaDaRkA :)

If your blue gourami is a male opaline or 3 spot (Trichogaster trichopterus) they can be quite aggressive with other fish, even with the females of their own species.

There's not a lot you can do about this but provide a place for the shark to hide. Moving tall plants around might cause the gourami to adopt a certain area to be territorial about, but this is just a possibility and doesn't always work.

Like watsisname sed if its an opaline like the one i used to have, they are very aggressive fish, i took mine back to the shop coz he chased anything and even ripped the fins off my yellow gourami, this is normal tho as he is only defending his territory
