Thanks for asking. (I have some AMAZING video with all of the the showing off behavior you asked for! I just need to figure out how to do the YouTube transfer. This is a new phone).

Also, gobs of photos I am sure I will be posting soon.

These are second generation.
They made me 6 fry currently that are growing out with about...say 25 of the peacocks!

Thrilled and humbled. No effort other than looking for the P. furcatus fry each morning. They show up in twos, one day apart or on the same day.


The peacock gudgeons were a bit more work...just kept an eye out (ouch...so hard to get it back in...) on the fanning male. After a bit I would lift the shelter and check. Loyal little fellow would just go back to work. Finally, they looked about "done," I removed the wood into another tank with mature Java fern near an air stone and by the end of the next day had numerous, too many to count, fry.
Hikari First Bites and their little bellies looked like another eye!
Hard time removing leftover food from tank bottom, but it worked!!!

Now in with the 6 furcatus fry all growing up together.

If you can breed the P. furcatus and get a large group, then put them in a big tank and watch them. 50-100 fish together is a stunning sight, especially when they start showing off.

Dream big. I thought about "actually" breeding them, I have a good long 5g with great flow.
Alas, my stocking is at limit now. Can't afford a bigger tank but want one---NEED one desperately.

Most of the Gudgeons will most likely go to LFS, 6 furcatus I'll keep.
May have to have 2 separate tanks for them all anyway. Huge bummer.

How many of each species do you have and what sizes tank is this btw?
Sorry if you’ve already said this in another thread somewhere.

Just that I am considering getting some forktails for my new tank but no clue about gudgeons so I’ll have to get my research hat on about those, looks cute and hopefully they’ll be good for my hard water.
