Well got home from work this afternoon and after feeding, admiring the fish I noticed that 2 of my catfish have had a bit of a beating, my 1 pair of cribs are currently spawning (thinking about it) but only appear to chase the other pair away. I have noticed that an emperor tetra swooped down and nipped the top fin of 1 of the catfish, the catfish are acting fine but the 1 has a lot more damage than the other. I dont believe its the kribs tbh, but i could rehome 1 pair in my fathers tank. The tank has just recovered from a bacterial bloom but water stats are ammonia 0 nitrite 0 nitrate 10. I have changed about 30% of the water in case the damage may get infected.

I will add pics later as i cannot find my iphone lead, but its basically all on the top fin and surrounding, its basically white where he shouldnt be.

Most likely the kribs started it. Cichlids hate catfish when they are spawning. The emperor was most likely just taking advantage of the situation.

well the poor thing died this morning, the other 1 is fine, it does certainly look like the cribs as i just witnessed 1 trying to push a loach away from his home, the loach werent having any of it even though it was getting bit, now its decision time, move the catfish into my fathers tank, the 2nd pair (non spawning) cribs into my fathers tank or both.

The best thing would be to give the breeding pair of kribs their own tank. A 10-15 gallon will suffice. Keep an eye on the second pair, once removed from the dominant pair they are likely to start breeding themselves.
