Blue Acara

You already have cichlids in your "angel" tank

oo shh!! you know what i mean :D as in a colourful cichlid shape cichlid!! :p i have just angel and bristlenose at the moment. want a shoal of something and was thinking dwarf neon rainbows and some cory cats, and also want something different so the cichlid centre piece would tick that box.
the tanks only a 180l, with decent planting and lots of bog wood. The acara they have at the LFS are very much juvi, at only an inch. The rainbow cichlid at the other LFS is about 3 inches to id say an adolecent. but not sure how big/old they reach maturity.
thanks

Rainbow cichlids get to about 4-5" max, so at 3" is an adult.

I'd say a rainbow cichlid sounds a better fish for your needs than a blue acara (some of which can get very nasty). Just not sure that adding an adult would be wise. Might work, might not. A juvie would have a much better chance of working long term.

Hi guys! I am planning on adding a pair of blue acaras to my community tank. I have:
1 golden gourami
1 cory
1 sucking loach
1 clown loach
1 small pleco
Do you think they will get on ok with what I've got at the moment? My son does not agree with rehoming what we've got. I would really appreciate your opinion.
