Hey guys,

I'm not sure if I should be concerned or if I just don't recall how new fish work? Anyway, long story short, my baby Blue Acara (just got him a week ago, may be 1 1/4") seems to be hiding under his heater. He is housed with 10 bleeding heart tetras who are all content with swimming back and forth so I don't believe he is being bullied.

He just started doing this late last night and again tonight, until then he stayed hidden and I chalked it up for getting used to his new surrounds, which may be, just a bit concerned.

On a side note, over the weekend I changed the substrate from gravel to sand, and added some plants. For reference you can refer to my journal here. My journal

Thanks for the help, I hope I'm just being overly paranoid.

As long as he's eating, all is good. My FH likes to hide behind his heater at night. Go figure.

Hi there. My blue acara hides prettly much most of the time under his piece of bog wood near the heater. He comes out occasionally for a brief swim/appearance and to let his tankmates know he still around then saunters back to his spot!! ☺.
Ive had him around two months and he has always been this way. I bought him from a friend and he was very shy in his tank also but also bullying his other fish hence why i got him.
As stated, if he feeding ok & looks ok then just see how it pans out. As you say, he may be shy and still adjusting!!
Hope everything stays ok.
