Black Water Extract

Hi All,

In another thread there were some comments on bwe extract.

When I was investigating the Discus option, I asked numerous experts about using bwe to reduce the ph and improve water quality. All of them said that it is a waste of money.

Does anyone have any thoughts?
Is it a waste as many say? Or does it have benefits?

I would have thought that most discus on sale would be tank bred

I have nearly used a bottle now but haven't noticed any dfference

i never used it when i had my discus and they thrived , spawned regularly etc . i wont be so bold as to totally dismiss its properties as i dont know everything about it , but i will go as far as to say i dont think its required to successfully keep discus . certainly not domestic tank bred strains anyway . it may be usefull with wilds but imo really not needed for most
