Black Substrate

As above rearly.
Going to be in use in a Juwel Rekord 600 which will be planted and house guppy fry.
Gravel or sand?
And how much roughley would i need to have so plants would root and flourish
Best place to buy from ect?

I have a combination of black sand & black gravel in my 36 gallon tank shown in my signature. I added the sand first & it really wasn't holding the plants down good enough so I added the gravel. The problem with having both is that the gravel usually end up on top & the sand falls through to the bottom. Now I'm slowly removing the gravel with each water change because I think the sand looks better and it's easier to clean in general.

Oh, and the "rule of thumb" is roughly 1 pound per US gallon for sand but I've found that it's really a bit less when I did my 20 gallon sand substrate tank.

I have black smooth pebbles on top of a black fine gritty gravel that looks like sand. Planting is easy and they stay in really well despite the vigorous efforts of my platies to pull everything up.

It's really up to you. I looked at black sand but it was out of my budget. The smooth pebbles were fairly cheap and my cory's like them
