Black Slate

just bought a piece of black slate from dobbie garden centre,am i best to boil it for an hour before putting in the tank?

I have Lake District slate in my tank and I boiled it before adding. Better safe than sorry I say

Boil it for a while and give it a lil wipe over and that should be fine

all i did was stick it in some water for a day (but i did use sealant on it to make a cave and sealant can mess with your ph when it first sets so it was more of a precaution because of that) but boiling it for a hour would clean it to

Yeh it wouldn't hurt to clean it, after all you don't know what they might have placed on it to stop anything growing on it.
