Anyone know anything about black sharks? I can't seem to find a topic in here discussing any type of sharks, Rainbow, Bala, Black, ect.

All I know is that they have to be in groups of six or more, and unless you have a six to eight foot tank, I wouldn't even attempt it.

The balas are not too commonly commented on apart from their inappropriate stocking. They're lovely fish but they're really best for big display aquariums as they're very active shoaling fish that get to a foot in length.

The red-tailed black and rainbows though are fair fish but can get nasty at a certain age. They go from happy community fish to territorial nutters, so are good in bigger tanks, where they're often not stocked as those tanks are often used for stock that would view the RTB's as a meal.

What did you want to know about them?

I have a black shark in my tank, fairly decent creature, but I believe he killed one of my kuhli loaches. I saw him picking on it a little and 2 days ago my loach was dead in the morning. He's only about 4 inches long right now, but I am looking at upgrading my tank in the next few months.

How big is the tank?
How big/ old is the shark?
What fish is/ was he living with?

I believe, correct me if I'm wrong, that black sharks are similar to Redtail sharks which are quite aggressive as they mature.
