Black Ghost Knife With Severums & Convicts ?

strangley enough they have started spawning n the cons chase everything away apart from the BGK which is right next to them n they dont seem to be bothering him for sum reason, its mad, the BGK is basically on the wood where the eggs r n the cons arnt moving him, any reason for this? i cant wait till i have loads of little baby cons, the only thing is wot 2 do with them, ive got 2 other tanks which my girlfriend breeds guppies so im guna put all guppies in 1 and all the cons in another, i will av 2 feed my cons sum of the uppies oi think oif they`ll eat them. my severums r much bigger than the cons so they shud be able 2 handle them shudnt they

You might be surprised at how psycho breeding convicts can get.. when/if the eggs hatch, they will get even more aggressive.

You don't have the tankspace for baby convicts really anyways, so I don't know what you're going to do.

Should really have figured this stuff out before you bought all these fish....

yeah thanks for the advice every1. i didnt know the convicts were guna breed i just liked the look of em. do u think i shud take the BGK out but leave the severums there ? wot wud u do if u were in my situation? ill frind sumwhere 2 keep the convict babies but how fast do they grow ?

hte eggs av disappeared now n i keep seeing movement near where they were so i think they`ve hatched but not quite free swimming yet, how long will it take ? THE BGK seems fine hasnt had any trouble, the sevs have had alot more than the BGK has

Parrots and Severums are relatively peaceful as far as cichlids go, but convicts are porbably the most agressive cichlid you can find in the market. They would likely scar the BGK at some point because their nips are destructive. THe BGK is almost blind so it will wander into convicts territories and get ripped to shreds.

I was just going to say most convicts are aggressive, but not as aggressive as they are 'supposed' to be and that they get their reptutation from when breeding...And now they are I would definetaly take the bgk back

im guna wait till the babies r free swimming etc n then im guna take em all 2 the LFS along with the breeding pair as im just guna get a couple more severums instead because the cons r very aggresive whilst breeding, thanks for ya advice every1

I think if you have a placid Severum it would be fine ( I have a severum and the most aggressive he gets is a tiny 20 cm chase of my angelfish) however I would trust a BGK with a convict or two as BGK are a very vulnerable fish if attacked....I would go with Severums above Convicts
