Hi, I`ve had my ghost knife for a while now and there seems to be a problem. It started when a female betta seemed to have fin rot, so I added some medication. I have done this before with a different medication (anti internal bacteria) and all was fine, but a few days after adding the medication for fin rot first the male fighter (betta) looked like he was on his way out and stayed next to the pump in my jewel 190 tank constantly at the surface. He is a couple of years old so didnt think anything of it. Then the black ghost and other fish seemed to be gasping for air at the surface. I added the carbon filter and left it overnight. The male betta has now recovered from whatever made him ill, but there was a sudden death of a fish that was bought for me by somebody so i dont know what it was called, but it is tiger striped (no barbs) and had grown quite big (looked like a tropical version of a chubb or roach). This was quite strange as i`ve had it since it was small and must still have been young. he was floating upside down when i found him and died minutes later. I carried out a 50% water change last night and fear it must be the medication i put in that is causing the problem. The angel fish are also off their food as is my green dragon eel, but the most concern is for this Knife Fish as he never gasps at the surface like that and definately looks in danger. I also woke up and the surface of the water had some kind of contamination on it like when you leave a tea bag in a cup too long, maybe thats just because i changed the water, but something is wrong here.

What should I do?

have you done another water change today?if not do it id say.are the fish still gasping?sounds like its down to the meds and maybe bad airation?i lost my bgk in exactly the same way

You have to increae aeration in the tank when using meds.
Your fish have bacterial infections going on, the qne that swam upside down had swim bladder.
Can we take a look at your water stats in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.
Full stock list of fish of how many and which kind.
