Would this guy fit in with the fish I have planneto put in my tank. Some who have been helping out know but here's the list so far.

6 tiger, green tiger and albino barbs
8 dwarf neon rainbow
1 blue phantom pleco
6 dwarf goramis and paradise fish
16-20 cardinals!
Will a black ghost fish work?

what size is the tank?

black ghosts can reach 20 inches in length so a big tank is needed to keep one of these.

also when bigger the cardinals and neons will become nice snacks for the knife fish so i would say no a bgk isnt compatable with you stocking

+1 on this, the BKF get big and will decimate the tetra population

18 gallon is to small for a BGK also the dwarf gourami may be dinner when its full size.

I think that most of those fish will be at risk, apart from the pleco, i have a blue phantom in with my BGK at the moment.
And like said before, BGK needs at least a 4ft tank.

Like said before those fish are all at risk except the pleco.
The cardinals will definitely be eaten..
The gouramis may be alright....but not sure so you might want to ask around.
And that sized tank will be fine for a BGK :)

.......haha sorry i'm sure i didn't post on here before.. nevermind

Haha my bad I meant a 180 gallon tank ha

Well I could prob just keep him for a lil while my lfs is really good about taking fish that get to big! So what u think the max size would be so that he wouldn't est my fish before I would take him back? 12 inces?

I don't understand the logic of knowingly buying a fish that you intend to return to the store at some point. If you really want to have a BGF, why not build the community of fish around it?

a 6x2x2 tank is perfectly fine for a BGK but you will have to stock the tank to suit whatever fish you put in it.

if you dont want a BGK that bad then i suggest leaving it where it is. small fish will be eaten as soon as the BGK gets big enough, that size depends on the fish its kept with there is no size chart as such to compare with. BGK are nocturnal predators and when kept with the right fish and in the right environment is a joy to own and watch.

you have a good sized tank that is big enough for most fish but the fish must be compatable with each other whatever goes in.

there is no logic in buying a fish to grow it on and return it to the shop. please research all the fish you are interested in to find a happy medium. its not just the fish its water temps and parameters and even tank decor. there are a lot of things to consider when purchasing fish dont just pick out fish you like the look of. take the name of the fish and use the internet and the forum to find out as much as possible before buying any fish as the cute little fish in the shop could eventually turn out to be a monster.

by all means buy a BGK but please choose its tank mates with care. larger cichlids, larger barbs etc will be fine but its the case of if it fits in the mouth it may well become a snack.....

Yeah I have been doing research and it says its peaceful and doesn't grow to its potential that's why I wasn't sure. So if it doesn't work then he's out cuz I like the schooling fish more I think!
