Has any one seen or hared of these fish still in the hobby

Jim Langhammer the creator of this cross is unable to locate any in the hobby in the US and BLA (UK grope) has not been able to locate any in the UK either.

If any one know's of these fish being breed in the hobby still please let me know.

Good news, they are still in U.S hobby but not ready for sale yet as I knows only one who's breeding them along with fancy platies.

Thanks Butch, that person only has old fish that are no longer breeding, but the person who he got them from has passed on 3 pairs to Jim

Good to see these fish are still there, i did think that perhaps they were all gone, esp as their are none in the UK.

I suggest that you post on the ALA site. There are people there who might well have some. It is a place that Jim Langhammer visits and I believe he is the one who originally developed that cross.

Yes Jim Langhammer did develop the cross as he had a lone skiffia francesae. So crossed it to at least keep some of the gene's

Jim i understand passed on the fish when he left his job as curator, believing that their was many fish around due to his work on then, but like many livebearers they soon dwindled away over the last 10 years, I've owned these fish back in the mid 90's and never breed them, but fish48 did.

At least he's know got these fish back and hopefully he'll breed then being an skilled Skiffia breeder.

They are definitely around. They've been popping up in the U.S. here and there recently.

tbqh, though, The heavily pigmented multipunct. strains look much better than the black beauts, imo. Not to mention, they're pure strained. So why is this such a big issue?

shameless plug:
