How many of you have been bitten by your fish? What did it feel like?

My Oscars bite me all the time but in a playful way, not an aggressive way. During water changes they come to see what I’m doing and once they realize I’m being boring they try to get me to play. I often ‘pet’ them and they seem to appreciate it in their own way. They don’t mind me being within an inch of them but once I touch them they swim away, only to return and push each other to try to be closer to my hand than the other fish, but not quite touching me.

The Pacus on the other hand… unless I’m feeding them (which I often do by hand) they want nothing to do with my hands in the tank. These are skittish fish by nature so that doesn’t surprise me. What did surprise me though was that just now I was hand feeding them… and one missed the frozen brine shrimp and got the tip of my finger and OUCH!

I’ve been bitten by a lot of pet fish and it’s never hurt… until today! 6 inch Oscar… no problem… 7 inch Pacu… watch out!

I've only been nipped by my guppy when I was rearranging some things. It didn't hurt, but I wouldn't expect it to since it's less than an inch big! :p It actually felt cool.

 No I haven't but i have had a guppy nibble my arm and it tickled it was nice.

Regularly bitten by my Mbuna, doesn't exactly hurt but it can't half make you jump!

my killie attacked my finger once... i think I was holding onto the edge of the tank or something, because only my tip was in.

my killies never seemed to mind my touching them or anything - if you ask me they're my smartest fish. whenever I come over they look right at me, sometiems they swim up to the top if they know what's coming.

I got bitten by a needlenose gar once and that hurt like hell, also had a arowana smash into my wrist as i reached over the tank and that left a large bruise for weeks after.

Ouch! I get bit by my peacocks when I feed them. I've gotten bit one time when I went to seperate two female bettas one of em bit me it kinda felt like sand paper .

I've been nipped at by my tiger barbs in my old tank and by rosy barbs in this tank (don't have them). It never hurt, but they're just little bitty fish, not big ol' pacus!

lol cfc!!

I let me arowana bite me but thats doesn't hurt at all, he just clamps round realises it's not food and swims on, i often stroke his back as he swims off.

my oscar deicded my finger was food a while back though and drew blood.

don't think koi are too gentle either, stick ya fingers in the koi mouths at work and the big maatsuba called Dave will latch onto you and try to rip your fingers off, hurt alot first he did it.

the big red tail we had at all decided to grab my fingers aswell once didn't hurt but never relised they have like a hard pointed plate!!

breeding convicts are fun aswell.

my crabs bloody hurt, once they settled on your hand they would clean it though :D

My Bettas bite all the time. Sometimes, when they catch you just right, it feels like getting stuck for blood sugar testing. Not painful, per se, but not the most pleasant feeling.

My JD has attempted to latch on to my fingers while feeding. Didnt hurt at all. Startled the crap out of me though the first time. Ive also been attacked by angels while removing their eggs. Kinda tickled.

i bet they'd be thrilled to learn that. :p ( them--> :flex: , you--> :fun: )

ahem, yes, bitten by guppies... they like to eat the tiny bubbles on my arms while i try to plant things.

My oscar regularly nibbles my fingers, since I sometimes feed him out of my hand... now he thinks I'm ALWAYS holding food when I put my hand in the tank
Doesn't hurt at all... feels like someone lightling pinching you. A lot of times I pet his head and he just gets really confused *lol*

My betta Sealink bit, and often. Whenever I cleaned her tank cause my hand would be in there to fix the plants. It didn't hurt though.
But, my dad got a mole bitten off by some random fish when we were swimming once. It bled like crazy and was very funny.
