I have just replaced my tank with a bigger one (not a HUGE jump, only about 10 gallons or so) and have cycled it and got everything installed and looking nice. My fish have been temporarily re-housed in my spare hospital tank while the new tank was being set up. I got the new one (an Aqua Mode 600) for a great price, but the uplift tube on the power head wasn't with it. I've duly tracked one down and ordered it, and was assured it would be here today. Lies. I'm assuming the wonderful (*cough*rubbish*cough*) Ryal Mail have it in some god-forsaken sorting office somewhere. Gits. My question is, how safe would I be putting my fish into their new home, without the uplift tube in place?? I have visions of a cartoon-esque moment, with a fish innocently swimming past the inlet, only to find themselves getting pulled in. Not good. Anyone got any advice?? Are the fish going to be bright enough to stay away from the inlet?? I'm just a little concerned that the fish have now been in the hospital tank for a while and (well, lets be honest here) I'm itching to get them re-housed into their spangly new tank!

Thanks in advance...

No, the fish will not be bright enough to stay away from the filter intake. A piece of sponge or old nylon over the intake will keep them from being sucked in.

"Oops, honey, the darn dog got these!" It works for fishroom towels as well. :good:
