Bird Cage Sand?

We've got birds and i doubt that would work... that stuff would probably skin a fish...

Edit: Its grit by the way, not sand.

Argos play sand works well and looks good.

Its about £3.00 for a 15kg bag.

Edit: that wouldnt raise the Ph though.

yeh thats ok, ill try to get some lime stone chips for my filter i think, just have thought my life might have been a little easier though lol.
Ill make my trip to argos tomorrow then :)

Make sure you dont have to carry it far, its like a dead weight...

Heres a picture of it in my tank halfway through planting it.

Oh and make sure you wash it in a bucket with a hose pipe to remove any dust and scum...

Looks nice :) you planning on keeping fish or just a planted?
And how did you manage to get moss growing on your bog wood?
EDIT - im trying to cover up my fluval with plants too lol :)

Its fishless cycling at the moment.

The moss is still rooting, its held on with fishing line.

I did have it all covered when i was in a fish-in cycle, but i decided to lose the cabomba and stuff because they were messy.

Im just about to start cycling, i have just about everything, just need to put it all together.
Ill bear that in mind, ill order some java moss off the internet and give it a go.
What fish are you wanting?

6 Harlequin Rasbora
6 Sterbai corys

Im hoping my cycle wont last much longer, i started with some good bacteria already as i fish-in cycled for about a month before giving the fish away, changing to sand and just re-doing the tank.

Haha know the feeling, my tank started with bright blue gravel with glow in the dark jewels, oh and a rainbow lol, not too great on reflection :S
Decided to go for natural sand now so have just wasted a bomb :S never mind
Oh and on a different note - i love the chips in wolverhampton, theyre like in batter, wish they were like that up here lol
